The book depicts the story told by an 8-year-old girl who has experienced transitions due to her parent's divorce, moving into a new affluent community and the importance of friendship. It shows that no matter your socioeconomic status all children experience childhood trauma and the effects can last a lifetime. However, if you have a good support system, i.e. family and friends those transitions can be less traumatic.
